Orthopaedic Surgeon

Dr. Anthony Festa is an orthopaedic surgeon in his seventh year of practice at the New Jersey Orthopaedic Institute. Dr. Festa is a fellowship-trained sports medicine specialist and is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). His expertise includes non-operative and operative treatment of sports injuries in pediatric, adolescent and adult patients, from the recreational to the professional level.

Dr. Festa received his undergraduate degree from Boston College, where he graduated magna cum laude. Dr. Festa earned his medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and then completed his orthopaedic residency at Tufts University Affiliated Orthopaedic residency in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Festa then completed a sports medicine fellowship at the San Diego Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Program where he served as an assistant team Physician for the San Diego Padres and San Diego State University.

Dr. Festa is an Associate Clinical Professor of orthopaedic surgery at the Seton Hall University School of Health Related Sciences, where he serves as the Assistant Director of the orthopaedic surgery residency program. Dr. Festa is also the Assistant Director of the Sports Medicine Division and the Director of the Shoulder and Elbow Service. He serves as an instructor at the Arthroscopy Association of North America’s National Learning Center where he teaches the latest arthroscopic techniques to resident and attending level orthopaedic surgeons from all over the country.

Dr. Festa is actively involved in research. He has published numerous textbook chapters and articles in peer-reviewed journals on the topic of orthopaedic sports medicine. His work includes topics ranging from ACL injuries, shoulder instability and biceps tendon disorders. Other current research interests include rotator cuff injuries, throwing related injuries and cartilage disorders of the knee. His work has been presented at state, regional and national meetings.

Dr. Festa currently serves as the head team physician for Seton Hall University. He also serves as an orthopaedic consultant for Montclair State University, The New Jersey Jackals Baseball Team and multiple local high schools.

The American Orthopaedic Association (AOA) has identified Dr. Festa as an Emerging Leader in the field of orthopaedic surgery. He has also been recognized as one of New Jersey’s favorite doctors by his patients who selected him for the Patient’s Choice Award in 2014.

Dr. Festa is on the Board of Counselors representing the state of New Jersey at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), along with being a AAOS fellow. He is also a member of the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine (AOSSM), American Arthroscopy Society of North America (AANA) and the Big East Sports Medicine Society.
